The smoke situation was much improved today, but I spent most of my day running errands and at a retirement dinner for a colleague. The few photos I did take were in the later morning when the light wasn’t the best for photography, so it was one of those days when photos just didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to. Here’s a mockingbird posing on my neighbor’s light pole. I took several pictures of him, but I wasn’t really pleased with any of them. This one was the best of the bunch. Settings were f/5.6, 1/400, ISO 400.
The Mourning Doves and the Ground-Doves seem to be together a lot lately, and they were out in the back yard today. This is probably the best of my attempts at photographing this Mourning Dove. One of the little Ground-Doves is in the background. Settings were f/8, 1/800, ISO 400.
A Ground-Dove. They’re much smaller than the Mourning Doves, and have a scaled-looking head and neck and a dark tip to the orange bill.Settings were f/8, 1/800, ISO 400.
