Today I took photos of Cattle Egrets, a pretty little flying insect that landed on a tomato plant, and Bonnie and Lulu out in the yard. I wasn’t happy with any of them except for one photo of Bonnie. The evening flights of flocks of Cattle Egrets are just not working for me as a photographic subject, unless I can catch a silhouette shot. By the time they come through the light is dim and I can’t get a good photo. The insect photos would probably have been pretty good if I’d taken time to switch lenses. I had the 70-300mm lens on the camera and I didn’t want to leave the insect to go inside and change to the 90mm f/2.8, so I made do with the lens I had on the camera. The exposure turned out all right but I didn’t get the sharpness I wanted. That leaves this photo of Bonnie walking through the grass in the back yard. She’s 15 years old, a little wobbly and getting thinner, but still my sweet beautiful girl. Settings were f/5, 1/500, ISO 400.
