Except for some European Starlings and a Robin hopping around in the grass, there hasn’t been a lot of bird activity in the yard lately, so I was happy to see two Ospreys flying overhead this afternoon. Unfortunately both birds stayed way up high in the sky and I wasn’t able to get close shots of them, but still it was nice to see them. Here’s a cropped photo of an Osprey against blue sky and wispy white clouds. Settings were f/7.1, 1/1250, ISO 200.

This is a more closely cropped shot of an Osprey at its closest to me–still pretty high up there. Settings were f/7.1, 1/1250, ISO 200.

Sophie and Lulu were outside with me this afternoon as usual. Here’s Sophie standing in the yard–I love her curly tail and all her spots. Settings were f/7.1, 1/640, ISO 200.

I wanted to take a photo of Sophie and Lulu together, but Lulu wasn’t interested in moving to the area of the yard I wanted. I got a couple of dog cookies and suddenly Lulu was ready to follow me anywhere. I had the two of them sit down side by side, backed up to take the photo (I still had the 70-300mm lens on the camera), and this was the result. Lulu had followed me as I backed away, so I had a nice photo of Sophie sitting in the grass by herself. Settings were f/7.1, 1/640, ISO 200.

I tried to get Lulu to sit and stay, but the lure of the cookies was too powerful and she kept following close to me when I moved away from her. Lulu does know basic commands, but she doesn’t always feel it’s imperative to immediately obey. Sophie is much more naturally eager to please. Settings were f/7.1, 1/640, ISO 200.
