I looked for anoles yesterday but didn’t see any–it must have been too cool for them. But today was warmer and mostly sunny, and there were lots of anoles out all over the yard. There were a couple of very small young anoles in the tomato pots–maybe from those eggs I found in the pots last fall. Here’s one of the little ones, a red-headed anole.

Another tomato pot anole, this one a little bigger and older.

Anole on the fence behind a vine.

This female anole was a bold, brave girl. She held her position on the fence as I approached with the camera, keeping her eye on me.

You can just see the edge of her dewlap starting to show here.

She bobbed her head and displayed her dewlap as she watched me.

And she even did some push-ups to go along with the dewlap display.

Over near the back of the house I spotted one of the anoles that’s been hanging around the screen door for months. I hadn’t seen him in awhile and I was happy to see him. He had just caught a spider and was settling down to have  his meal.

He has most of that spider in his mouth here.

Almost finished.
