Once again I saw a brown anole eating–a different anole this time, not the one I’ve seen eating several times recently. At first glance I thought maybe he’d picked up something like a slug or a grub–no head or legs showing. But looking more closely, I saw that there were little hairs on this thing. The anole was trying valiantly to eat his prey.

He’s got almost all of it in his mouth here.

And now it’s all in his mouth and he’s looking pleased with himself.

But apparently it was too big a mouthful for him. He started shaking his head.

And opening and closing his mouth, trying to chew and swallow. He ran off at this point so I don’t know what happened to him.

Aside from that, I did see a mating pair of anoles on the pool steps today. The female was not very happy about the situation and she got away after a couple of minutes.

And a pair of Mourning doves on a wire.
