Birds were making lots of noise in the backyard this morning. When I looked outside, I saw grayish brown birds chasing after the shiny black starlings. It took me a few minutes to realize that the gray/brown birds were actually juvenile starlings.

The juveniles were following the adults around as the adults hunted for bugs. Some of the young ones actually looked bigger than the adults!

The adult caught an insect.

And the juvenile birds loudly demanded some of the food.

But the adult starling didn’t give in.

Over on the fence, an adult starling lost its patience with one of the pestering young ones.

It was all actually funny to watch, even with all the noise the birds were making.

Last photo is these three juveniles on the fence watching something up overhead.
