I picked our first tomato today–one of our patio tomatoes. We haven’t eaten it yet–we’re letting it ripen a little more–so we’ll have to wait and see how it tastes.

Spider in the bushes. It’s woven an unusual white web, which seems to serve as camouflage for the white and gray spider.


And here is the hyperactive young mockingbird that was zipping around my front yard this afternoon, from wire to grass to roof and then back to a wire again. It’s fluffed itself up here, but you can still see the streaks on its chest that indicate it’s a young bird.
