Hatching time is here for baby anoles! I’ve seen four or five tiny anoles in the past couple of days, and today I went out with the camera to try for some photos.

I found one baby anole sitting on the bottom gate rail.. This baby is a male–you can tell by the pattern of markings on his back. He’s very small, an inch or less in length from his nose to the point where his tail starts. His head and eyes look big in proportion to his body, like lots of babies of all kinds.

He ran away before I could take any more photos. But with baby anoles hatching all around the yard right now I’m sure I’ll have more opportunities.

One more anole photo today–a pretty female on the herb pot.
