When I went outside this morning I saw this big bird. It was sitting up in a tall pine tree in the yard beyond my next door neighbor’s yard, so these photos were taken from that distance and cropped in.

It turned out to be a Red-shouldered Hawk, a bird I often see flying around our area.

In this photo my eye was caught by what looks like an anole on the branch in front of the hawk, facing the same way as the hawk. I wouldn’t think an anole would be that high up in a pine tree–it could have been just a piece of loose bark.

But the hawk seemed interested too, turning to look at the anole/piece of bark.

Which made me wonder if it really was an anole up in that tree!
