I’d been a bit worried about the little Eastern Phoebe that hangs around our yard. The phoebe was almost grabbed up by a red-shouldered hawk a few days ago–the phoebe flew to one of the palm trees just in time to miss the hawk’s swoop through the yard. But then I didn’t see the phoebe for a few days. Today the phoebe was back on a wire out front, and I was happy to see it there.

After the phoebe left, a starling turned up. The colorful iridescence in its feathers really shows here.
