This is a branch from the big pine tree I’ve photographed so many times. The tree is dying, with dry brown pine needles instead of bright green. I’m going to miss that tree.

A little anole for today, sitting on the gate.

I saw this little bird high up in a tree and I couldn’t really tell what it was.

I moved in closer and saw that it was a Yellow-rumped Warbler–the yellow patch on its side by its wing identifies it.

A Yellow-rumped Warbler turned up on a wire out front later this afternoon–could have been the same bird, or maybe a second Yellow-rumped Warbler. We usually have quite a few of them around in the spring.

The late afternoon light gave it a golden tone, quite different from the bright clear morning light.

One more of the little warbler.
