It’s the time of year for seeing more and more anoles around, which I always enjoy. The big males are still competing for territory. This guy who still looks as if he lost a fight is now displaying his dewlap as if he’s a winner.

Last year a large male anole with a damaged dewlap took over one of the big tomato pots and held onto that territory all summer. It’s March now, and that same anole is out there in that same pot, ready to rule again. If you look at his throat, you can see the edge of his damaged dewlap hanging down. He can extend it, but only partially. It’s good to see him back.

Little female anole on the fence.

And last for today is Lulu the basset hound, enjoying a good roll on her back in the sunshine.
