The Downy woodpecker was back today. If you look carefully, you can see the bird’s tongue extended slightly. After pecking a hole, the woodpecker uses its tongue to capture food.

The Tufted Titmouse was out there again too. This one seemed to have some streaks or speckles on its abdomen, making me wonder if it’s a young bird–many kinds of birds have those markings when they’re young.
