This dragonfly spent a lot of time near the tomato plants today, returning again and again to the same perches.
I researched dragonflies for a little while but couldn’t find one just like this. It’s probably a common species (as usual when I’m trying to identify an insect) that I missed as I looked through photos.
Another side view of the dragonfly.
I love dragonfly faces–they always give the appearance of a cheerful smile.
Screen door anole, on the edge of the screen door.
And a little later when the light had changed, as he showed off his dewlap and did a push-up.

What a beautiful dragonfly! Her black lace wings and yes, her smile, are captured so well.
Thank you, Daffodil.

Thanks, Basia! I don’t remember seeing a dragonfly like this before, and I still haven’t identified it. Very pretty though.

Thank you again–I was lucky to catch the anole on the door with the light behind him as he displayed his dewlap.
