We’ve had quite a few cardinals around our yard for the past few years, with sets of young ones appearing every so often during the spring and summer. This female cardinal was sitting in a tree in the backyard for quite awhile today.

From this angle you can see the hint of red on the tips of her crest feathers, and on the breast just under the black area around her bill.

The squirrels are still running along the fences and jumping through the trees. Max is fascinated and tries to chase them, but he’s no match for a squirrel. This squirrel was out there climbing and leaping today.
