We have basil plants growing in big pots in the backyard. We’ve been growing basil for years–we like the fresh basil leaves for cooking, and the small white basil flowers attract honey bees and other insects.

I saw several visitors to the basil plants today. This Red and Black  Mason’s Wasp spent some time around the plants.

This very small dragonfly paused on a basil plant in an obelisk pose, raising its abdomen up high–something dragonflies do on very hot sunny days.

A bumblebee came along too.

Still dealing with family illness here, but today was a somewhat better day, and it was nice to have some time for a few photos.
