The Black Swallowtail caterpillars are continuing to enjoy the parsley. So far they haven’t done much harm, considering how much parsley we have, so I’m leaving them alone for the time being. As they grow their colors are brighter and more distinctive.

Another caterpillar posing on the parsley.

And another caterpillar.

Take a close look here–I didn’t notice this when I was taking photos, and I almost missed it looking at photos later. There is a very, very tiny caterpillar hatching from an egg on the left, and on the right there’s another egg with a dark center–another caterpillar preparing to hatch.

Out in front I came across a beautiful yellow and black swallowtail butterfly.

It was visiting the yellow lantana flowers growing there.

A partial view of the top of the wings.

And a full view of the wings. I wasn’t sure about this butterfly and I had to look it up. It’s a King Swallowtail.
